Question

Start with the fields that grew. What changed in Computer Science and Registered Nursing?

Analyst Agent

Computer Science grew fastest, from 13,420 reported bachelor’s degrees in 2014–15 to 42,083 in 2023–24. Registered Nursing also grew from 113,998 to 146,679 degrees across the same period.

Question

Now check the other 4 fields. Which declined or stayed near its starting level?

Analyst Agent

Elementary Education fell from 32,260 degrees in 2014–15 to 29,382 in 2023–24. Business Administration and Psychology ended near their starting levels, while Biology grew more moderately.

Question

Bring the findings together in one chart. What should a college leader take from the comparison?

Analyst Agent

The 6 fields did not move together. Computer Science more than tripled, while Elementary Education ended lower than it started.

Registered Nursing and Biology also grew. Business Administration and Psychology were comparatively level at the endpoints.

These counts show degrees awarded nationally. They do not measure enrollment, demand, quality, or a college’s capacity.
